Last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite was full of shocks and surprises as usual. One of the bigger shocks was ‘The Icon’ Sting getting physical in the ring and taking a huge powerbomb from AEW star Brian Cage.

Sting appeared during the show to confront Team Taz, namely Cage, Hook (Taz’s son) and Taz himself. Upon entering the ring, Sting began to attack Brian Cage, nailing him with right hands before Hook used Sting’s bat to choke him from behind.

To finish the segment, Brian Cage hit the aforementioned powerbomb, leaving Sting laying.

Now this is shocking because no one expected Sting to be anywhere near this physical in All Elite Wrestling. At AEW Revolution Sting will be teaming with Darby Allin to take on Brian Cage and Ricky Starks; however that match will reportedly be a ‘cinematic’ street fight, so Sting won’t have to take any hellacious bumps or risk injury.

The Icon had to retire from WWE back in 2015, following a match against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions. ‘The Icon’ sustained a neck injury following a buckle bomb move in the corner, finishing the WWE career of the former WCW Champion.
