Following last night’s NXT Takeover 36 event, Adam Cole is no longer a contracted WWE Superstar.
PWInsider and Ringside News both reported that Cole’s contract ran out at Midnight, Sunday 22nd August. With Adam Cole now officially out of contract, he is free to go anywhere he chooses.
Fightful Select reported that Cole had not agreed anything beyond the contract extension that he signed around NXT Great American Bash earlier this year. Select however did not indicate if Cole’s deal had finished on Sunday.
Will Adam Cole join AEW?
What makes this extremely interesting, is that Cole does not have a non-compete clause as part of his contract. When Cole signed the extension, he reportedly requested that the non-compete be removed, which means that the former Undisputed Era leader could show up on AEW programming as soon as this Wednesday on Dynamite.
Here is what AEW have in store for this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite:
- CM Punk makes his first appearance on AEW Dynamite.
- ‘Varsity Blonds’ Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison vs. ‘The Lucha Brothers’ Penta El Zero Mideo and Rey Fenix in an AEW Tag Title Eliminator tournament match.
- Jamie Hayter vs. Red Velvet.
- Orange Cassidy vs. Matt Hardy.
- Malakai Black vs. Brock Anderson.
