Former WWE Superstar and Ring of Honor legend CM Punk made his debut for AEW on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. The news of Punk finally signing for the company was huge, and has made mainstream news across the globe.

According to a recent report from PWInsider, the backstage atmosphere was one of huge excitement, with the veteran performer making a fantastic first impression with the roster and crew.

“There were a lot of talents excited backstage when Punk said he wanted to work with the younger talents and help them develop and grow.  Punk stated he was looking forward to working with Will Hobbs, Jungle Boy, Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Ricky Starks.”

The company were extremely careful when it came to leaks of Punk being at the arena. AEW implemented a strict “no talent backstage if they didn’t work for the company” policy at the AEW Rampage taping, in order to prevent leaks from getting out.

CM Punk himself arrived several hours before the taping and was hanging out with the talent and crew in full sight, not trying to hide before the show.

Here is what AEW have in store for this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite:

  • CM Punk makes his first appearance on AEW Dynamite.
  • ‘Varsity Blonds’ Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison vs. ‘The Lucha Brothers’ Penta El Zero Mideo and Rey Fenix in an AEW Tag Title Eliminator tournament match.
  • Jamie Hayter vs. Red Velvet.
  • Orange Cassidy vs. Matt Hardy.
  • Malakai Black vs. Brock Anderson.
