Buddy Murphy facing AEW star in first post-WWE match

Former WWE Superstar Buddy Murphy will be facing AEW star and FTW Champion Brian Cage in his first post-WWE match since leaving the company.

Brian Cage confirmed on Instagram that he would be facing the ‘Best Kept Secret’ on Saturday, September 18 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia for the Battleground Championship Wrestling promotion.

‘JUST ANNOUNCED! Murphy vs Machine” Brian Cage wrote about his match with Buddy Murphy. “One of the hot matches I was looking forward to since the slew of WWE releases.”

WWE released Buddy Murphy last month on June 2. Murphy will become a free agent when his 90-day non-compete clause expires on Tuesday, August 31, meaning that he can compete on smaller indies until then, when he is potentially going to be headed to AEW.
