New AEW signee CM Punk made his All Elite debut at last week’s episode of AEW Rampage in front of a rabid crowd in Chicago, Illinois.

The moment will go down as one of the greatest in pro wrestling history, and CM Punk himself described the moment as the greatest in his career in a new interview.

Speaking to Kap & J. Hood show on ESPN 1000 Chicago, the straight edge star confirmed that his entrance and segment on Rampage was unlike anything else he has ever experienced.

‘Over the last seven years? I’ll take it back further, honestly. I was discussing this with a couple of my friends,’ Punk stated, ‘and that might have been the greatest moment, the greatest night of my career.’

‘Just the entire night couldn’t have gone more perfect, you know?” CM Punk continued. “The way we set it up as the ’˜worst kept secret,’ selling out the United Center on a rumor that I was going to be there, never announced, never advertised, it shows the connection to the fanbase that AEW has.”

“They get it. They want to be involved, they want to be entertained, they want to go to shows and have a good time” Punk stated. “We didn’t feel the need to beat them over the head [with it] to get a TV rating.”

“Don’t get me wrong, executives at TNT love their ratings, but to me, pro wrestling has always been about moments and getting people to feel something” the former WWE Superstar concluded.

It’s fair to say that the momentum behind AEW right now is immense, and they appear to be the place to be for independent wrestlers going forward. The arrival of CM Punk this past Friday certainly helped this momentum, and September looks set to be a massive month in the history of professional wrestling.

Here is what AEW have in store for this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite:

  • CM Punk makes his first appearance on AEW Dynamite.
  • ‘Varsity Blonds’ Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison vs. ‘The Lucha Brothers’ Penta El Zero Mideo and Rey Fenix in an AEW Tag Title Eliminator tournament match.
  • Jamie Hayter vs. Red Velvet.
  • Orange Cassidy vs. Matt Hardy.
  • Malakai Black vs. Brock Anderson.
