With AEW having recently signed Malakai Black, Andrade El Idolo and Chavo Guerrero, it appears as though there are more former WWE talents that they are looking at, beyond CM Punk and Bryan Danielson.

Dave Meltzer confirmed in a recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW is looking at bringing in Buddy Murphy to the company, writing, “there is also at least some interest in former Buddy Murphy both here [AEW] and with IMPACT.”

Murphy was originally being considered for the debut of AEW Rampage, which began airing as of August 13 from Pittsburgh.

Buddy Murphy was one of the ‘best-kept secrets’ on WWE programming. His feud with Malakai Black is still well regarded now, with Black himself referring to it in his return promo that he released on Instagram before debuting himself with All Elite.

Malakai and Buddy Murphy, now named Buddy Matthews, will be facing each other again at the upcoming WrestleCade event.

Will Buddy Murphy go to AEW?
