According to a new report from Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW have been eyeing 4 signings this year. Two of those signs were big deals, and two signings were ‘massive’ deals.

Dave Meltzer said on the Observer show today that he knows that two of the names were definitely Aleister Black and Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan. Andrade El Idolo was the third name confirmed by his official signing, but Meltzer also believes that the final ‘massive’ signing will be CM Punk.

‘In May, I was told that there four signings,” Meltzer said on the show. “Two somewhat big and two huge. None of them were signed, but there was confidence that they would be signed. I knew two of them were Aleister Black and [Bryan] Danielson.”

AEW targeting major names

“I knew they were two that were being talked to that AEW really wanted”, Meltzer added. “The other two were Punk and Andrade. I was pretty sure it was Punk; his name had been floated around and fit the category.”

“As far as guys who fit the category who are also available and as far as giant names, there aren’t a lot who are free agents, I mean, who is there who is going to wrestler ’” these are going to be wrestlers, and I mean, it’s like CM Punk, Dave Bautista, Brock Lesnar. I knew it wasn’t going to be Dave Bautista, because he’s in Hollywood.’

Several outlets have now reported that CM Punk will be heading to AEW shortly, with Fightful Select being the first to do so. The potential AEW signing of Daniel Bryan was put out into the newsfeed by BodySlam.net yesterday.
