UFC two division Champion Amanda Nunes recently spoke to FanSided. The greatest women’s combat sport athlete of all time discussed a number of topics during the interview, including the FW division itself.

There have been talks regarding the division and whether or not the company will be cutting it altogether. Amanda Nunes defeated Megan Anderson earlier this month at UFC 259 in decisive fashion, which essentially meant she ‘cleaned out’ the competition at 145 pounds. Right now there is no one on the horizon for Nunes to face at FW, however she states that the UFC are not getting rid of the 145 division.

Amanda Nunes on Featherweight Division

‘They did not cut the [featherweight] division,’ Nunes told FanSided. ‘Dana [White] and I have a great relationship, as long as I want to defend it he will find me opponents.”

Interestingly, Megan Anderson claimed that the company was cutting the division, this was after six fight contract ended and she left the promotion. “I wont be back in the UFC, they’re cutting the division, which I knew was going to happen. We knew this was going to happen. The UFC is cutting the division, the Felicia Spencer fight in May will be the last Featherweight fight in the UFC.” After this Anderson noted that she ‘got in trouble’ for her comments and wouldn’t say anything further.
