It was recently revealed that UFC 264 had sold out ‘in seconds.’ The Trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will be headlining that card, so it’s no surprise that the full capacity show will be welcoming a capacity crowd.
‘Wow! I just beat this time in selling out the T-mobile arena!” Conor McGregor wrote on Twitter. “20,800 fans jam packed! Sold out in seconds! On the 10year anniversary of my fastest one punch KO in professional Mixed Martial Arts!”
McGregor continued, reminding people just how quick that KO he referred to was. “Still One of the fastest in Professional Mixed Martial Arts history. 3.5 seconds.’
Whilst Conor McGregor is one of the biggest draws in combat sports, it’s fair to say that Dustin Poirier is another factor in the sale of the show.
Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier
After back and forth verbal jabs between Poirier and McGregor, the UFC finally made the fight official for UFC 264. The prior respect shown by both men was seemingly gone after Poirier stated that McGregor and his team had not paid the promised $500,000 donation to his Good Fight Foundation charity as promised after January’s UFC PPV event.
McGregor himself said that he wanted to see where the money was going to be used before he made the monetary commitment. Well, with McGregor’s recent comments, UFC 264 is going to go ahead with a main event full of controversy.
‘@DustinPoirier My team does their due diligence to make sure every donation meets the mark’ Conor McGregor wrote on Twitter earlier today. ‘My generosity is known. You will pay with your brain for this attempt at smearing my name.’
‘Shooting a** shelling ass b*tch’ McGregor continued. ‘Little b*tch kicks from a shell. Good luck when you’re caught. You’re f*cked.’
