Floyd Mayweather Meets With Dana White and RIZIN CEO

Undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather was recently pictured meeting with the UFC President Dana White. The UFC President posted an image in the early hours of this morning showing him meeting with Mayweather and RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara.

It’s not clear why the three men have met, however it may be related to fight promotions going forward. Floyd Mayweather ‘retired’ back in 2017, with his last match up coming against UFC megastar Conor McGregor.

Whilst Mayweather is still expected to face Logan Paul at some point this year, there’s a chance that both the UFC and RIZIN might be looking to get a slice of the pie; maybe even options in Mayweather Promotions.

Sakakibara discussed how the meeting came to be. ‘When I was having a meeting with Mayweather, I was surprised when Dana appeared when I was told, ’˜I have a guy who wants to see Sakakibara from now on, so I’ll call him by phone.’

‘It’s been about 15 years since I met him again” Sakakibara continued. “One of the guys I wanted to meet back in the industry. Something may be born by chance!’

Dana White confirmed back in 2019 that he and Mayweather were looking to go into business together. These plans were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and international lockdown protocols.

Dana told ESPN: ‘The world imploded [due to COVID-19] after we were talking about doing some things together.’ It remains to be seen if a deal can come together, it’s likely that this would be to promote Mayweather exhibition fights across the globe.
