It has been reported that the UFC will be looking at a big Lightweight division fight in the coming month. ESPN correspondent Ariel Helwani mentioned on the DC & Helwani podcast that the company are looking at booking Justin Gaethje vs Michael Chandler.

Chandler of course made his UFC debut back in January. The former Bellator fighter appeared on the undercard for McGregor vs Poirier and was extremely impressive in his TKO win against Dan Hooker. Gaethje comes off of a Lightweight Championship loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov, so he will be looking to get back into contendership with the Russian now having retired.

Helwani’s colleague Daniel Cormier mentioned last week that this was one of the matchups he would put together. ‘In my house relaxing and looking at rankings” DC wrote on Twitter. “I’m thinking how about Gaethje vs Chandler, then we go Islam vs RDA and lastly give my boy Beneil the big fight and match him up with Tony Ferguson. What do y’all think? Exciting right?”
