UFC Welterweight contender Leon Edwards recently spoke to ESPN. The British fighter discussed a number of topics during the interview, including his upcoming 5 round co-main event against Nate Diaz at UFC 262 on May 15.

‘I know it’s gonna be hard work for him (Diaz) to come against a natural welterweight” Leon Edwards began. “One that can switch southpaw, orthodox, fight (from) both stances, got great wrestling, great jiu-jitsu.”

“I like his mental attitude to the game” Edwards continued. “I like the way he thinks of it. It’s gonna be an entertaining fight,’ Edwards said to ESPN.

Nate Diaz himself has been in pure promotional mode since the fight was announced between he and Edwards. ’Check me out may 15th I’ll be headlining #ufc262 in Houston, Texas’ Nate Diaz recently wrote on Twitter.

‘It’ll also have the new UFC lightweight title fight on the card” Diaz added. “I need people to know these guys are they’ve been working very hard and I can’t wait to see who gets my old crown. I’ll see you guys there!’

Diaz has continued to promote himself even further this week, now calling out one of the top Lightweights in the UFC: Dustin Poirier. Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier were supposed to fight at UFC 230 in November 2018 originally; however Poirier was forced to pull out with injury.

Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor were recently going back and forth on Twitter. McGregor would say that Diaz is his ’˜next fight’ following the proposed UFC 264 fight to finish the trilogy of Poirier vs McGregor. ‘Don’t worry you’re my next fight bro’ Conor wrote. ‘You and your face know what I’m like when I go again with it.’

Diaz responded by not only slating McGregor, but also taking a shot at Poirier. ‘Don’t forget Dustin f*cked u up’ Diaz began. ‘But he’s scared of me. You are both some b*tches.’

‘And I slapped kabob [Khabib], he was scared with no counter’ Diaz added. ‘And he owned you. So who’s the real king? Me bitch that’s who, King Nate dog.’

It’s clear that we’ll be hearing more from the returning Welterweight as we get closer to the fight itself.
