NJPW star and former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay has given an update on his current condition. It was recently revealed that the British star is injured and would have to vacate the title.
NJPW1972.com would write:
“On May 4’s night two of Wrestling Dontaku in Fukuoka, Will Ospreay sustained a neck injury. As a result, Ospreay will not be participating in the next series of events and will instead return to the UK for treatment and rehabilitation.Â
There is no timetable for Ospreay’s return to action at this time, and as a result, his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship will be vacated.
Further announcements on the status of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship will be made at a later date.”
Will Ospreay on Injury
With Ospreay’s partner Bea Priestley having already returned to the UK amid a potential signing with NXT UK; there have been rumors that Ospreay himself is WWE bound.
It’s worth noting however, that the former IWGP Champion has taken to social media to confirm his injury and that he ‘hopes’ to be back wrestling in 2021, so wherever he ends up, it might be quite some time away.
“Had my physio pop over the house today & after further digging I’m now being referred for another MRI on my lower back” Ospreay tweeted recently.
“[That is] for fears I may have the same issue in my neck. Things ain’t looking good, but I’m determined to comeback this year. Thanks for all the support” Ospreay concluded.
