Eric Bischoff Says He Would've Supported WWE's WrestleMania COVID Decisions

Former WCW President and WWE SmackDown Executive Director Eric Bischoff recently discussed last year’s WrestleMania.

This week’s episode of 83 Weeks was a Q&A edition of the podcast. Co-host Conrad Thompson asked Bischoff a question from a regarding WWE opting to still run WrestleMania last year during the COVID-19 pandemic. The fan wanted to know if Bischoff would’ve supported the idea if he was still in the company, with his role as Executive Director of SmackDown still fresh in the memory.

“It’s so hard, you know?” Eric Bischoff would begin on the podcast. “It’s so much. I mean if you look at WrestleMania? Take everything that everybody knew and understood about COVID last year, at this time almost a year ago? Add it all up? Put it together in a bucket? There was about a 10th of the information that we actually still need today.”

“There’s too many unknowns” Bischoff would continue. “I would have…I would like to think that I would have been pretty supportive of WWE” Bischoff revealed, “and the way they went about it.”

Bischoff would finish by outlining that there’s still not enough information and he would’ve been supportive of how WWE chose to run the show in the Performance Center. “I would have not been one of those people, and I’m still not by the way, I’m not going to get into a political conversation here; other than to say that even now today? We don’t know half of what we need to know.”
