A number of WWE Superstars were released from the company earlier this week, with the majority coming from the NXT and 205 Live rosters. Fandango was one of the talents released from the company, as well as his tag team partner Tyler Breeze.

“Thank you Vince McMahon, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon” Fandango tweeted. “Thank you for the last 14 years . I truly appreciate it!”

Fandango originally signed with WWE back in 2006, under the name Johnny Curtis. ‘Dango would join the FCW roster before making his way to season four of the original NXT format.

Has WWE released Fandango?

The then Johnny Curtis was mentored by R-Truth for season four of NXT, and the former Tag Team Champion would go on to win the show.

Fandango would make his official main roster debut in October 2012, going on to defeat Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29 in his first ever match at the biggest show of the year.

‘Dango was sent back to NXT in 2019, joining tag team partner Tyler Breeze to reform the duo. The former WWE Superstar had his last bout on NXT June 15, teaming with Breeze to defeat Imperium’s Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel.

There is no note on why WWE opted to release Fandango, however he was likely on an enhanced contract to most performers in NXT, having previously been used on the WWE main roster.

We’ll update with more news on the released WWE Superstars as and when this is available. WWE has made several changes to talent contracts over the past few months, including those within the NXT brand.
