WWE Superstar Jeff Hardy is apparently a wanted man by his brother Matt and All Elite Wrestling. In a recent Twitch stream, Matt Hardy said that he wanted to finish his career by teaming with his brother on the AEW roster.

As such, many fans have asked what the WWE contract situation is regarding Jeff and whether he is even in a position to leave anytime soon.

Jeff Hardy reportedly signed a new contract with WWE in 2020, which apparently runs until at least the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023.

The company has been making changes to contracts over the past year, with Fightful Select reporting that Hardy’s deal was “either restructured, re-signed or extended.”

WWE are able to add ‘injury time’ to the contract, which they had apparently done with Jeff before he re-signed with the company in 2020.

Can Jeff Hardy leave WWE for AEW?

Whilst Matt and a number of fans want to see Jeff in AEW, there’s no chance of it happening for at least 18 months to two whole years.

Jeff Hardy has been used sporadically on WWE programming over the past few months, with the former WWE Champion appearing alongside Jinder Mahal and Cedric Alexander in a recent backstage segment.

Cedric Alexander referred to Jeff Hardy as an ‘antique’ during the segment, which may indicate that the company want to use the big name performer in a talent building role going forward.

WWE may however opt to release Jeff at any time, although with crowds returning and his stature that is unlikely at this point.
