WWE Superstar John Cena made his first on-air comments since returning to the company on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. The leader of the Cenation had appeared at Money In The Bank in the closing segment, although he did not say anything to Roman Reigns on-screen before the show went off the air.

In the opening segment of RAW, John Cena would lay down the gauntlet for Roman Reigns and a match for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2021, which takes place this August from Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Roman Reigns is an arrogant, self-absorbed, overhyped, overprotected, overexposed gimmick which is not as over as he says he is, and that is coming from me,” John Cena said during RAW.

“There is a saying, ‘if you’re good, you’ll tell everybody. If you’re good, you’ll demand everyone acknowledge you'” Cena continued, alluding to the ‘Head of The Table’ gimmick that Roman Reigns has been portraying over the past 6 months in WWE.

“The rest of that saying is, ‘If you’re great, they’ll tell you” Cena added. The 16-time World/WWE Champion also said that Roman Reigns is an “a**hole,” which is one reason he has returned to the company to put the Universal Champion ‘in his place.’

John Cena vs Roman Reigns has been the working plan for quite some time, with WWE eager to try and create the biggest buzz possible for the upcoming WWE SummerSlam PPV event. With WrestleMania 36 having to take place in front of a limited crowd, WWE is looking to make SummerSlam ‘this year’s WrestleMania.’

Goldberg vs Bobby Lashley is the other big match that WWE has geared up for the event, with the WCW icon appearing last night to confront the WWE Champion on RAW.
