John Cena and Roman Reigns will be clashing at the upcoming SummerSlam 2021 PPV event in August. The 16-time World Champion Cena will be looking for number 17 when he faces the ‘Head of The Table’ Reigns in Las Vegas.

It was recently confirmed by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the match will be going ahead, following months of speculation regarding John Cena and his availability for the PPV this summer.

Dave Meltzer wrote that “Cena vs. Reigns is locked in as the main event for the [SummerSlam] show. However, Cena is in a movie called ‘Argylle,’ a spy thriller which will be shooting in Europe in August.”

“It’s possible he could start after or end prior to the date, or even get a few days off” Meltzer continued, seemingly ending speculation that Cena would not be available for the marquee bout in August.

John Cena has recently indicated that he will be returning to WWE, but did not give an exact date. WWE are desperate to make this year’s SummerSlam PPV the ‘WrestleMania of 2021,’ with a full capacity crowd being allowed inside of the Las Vegas venue.

No other matches have been confirmed for the show, although WWE are reportedly working on getting Edge vs Seth Rollins on the card.

Roman Reigns will be defending the Universal Championship against Edge at the upcoming Money In The Bank PPV event. Edge is likely to lose the match, potentially with interference from the aforementioned Seth Rollins.
