WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns recently sent out a message on social media that was aimed at CM Punk and AEW.

The company had announced that Saturday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas was the highest-grossing and most-viewed SummerSlam of all time. Of course, Roman Reigns headlined the show against 16-time World Champion, John Cena.

‘Legitimate needle moving,” Reigns wrote, responding to the WWE SummerSlam 2021 stats and success of the show from Las Vegas.

Roman Reigns on CM Punk

Reigns had recently commented on the potential return of CM Punk to pro wrestling, with the Head of The Table claiming that the former WWE straight edge Superstar was not a true ‘needle mover’ when he was on top of the company back in the early 2010s.

It was a strange claim for Roman Reigns to make, as Punk was easily the biggest star in the world at the time. However, with SummerSlam being so massively successful, Reigns does have the right to boast.

Reigns will now be heading into a program with Brock Lesnar, although it has not been confirmed when their first encounter will be taking place.

Here is what AEW have in store for this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite:

  • CM Punk makes his first appearance on AEW Dynamite.
  • ‘Varsity Blonds’ Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison vs. ‘The Lucha Brothers’ Penta El Zero Mideo and Rey Fenix in an AEW Tag Title Eliminator tournament match.
  • Jamie Hayter vs. Red Velvet.
  • Orange Cassidy vs. Matt Hardy.
  • Malakai Black vs. Brock Anderson.
