WWE Superstar Kevin Owens will be returning to WWE programming this week to face Sami Zayn. The former Universal Champion will face his nemesis in a Last Man Standing match with the winner qualifying for the Men’s Money In The Bank ladder match.

Kevin Owens and Zayn were in a match at Hell In a Cell, with Zayn taking the win. Following the match, Owens said on social media that he would be taking some time off, with fans speculating that he may be away for quite some time.

The announcement for the Owens vs Zayn match was made on this week’s episode of SmackDown, meaning that Owens would be away from television for just one episode of programming.

How long will Kevin Owens be gone from WWE?

It was noted by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that Kevin Owens had asked for just under two weeks off, this was the case when he indicated on social media that he was taking some time off.

Yes, it’s odd for Owens to say that he was taking time away, especially when it was only 10 days he had requested off. WWE are not at a point where they’re touring again, so it wasn’t even like he had to work house shows.

There’s a chance that Owens requested more time off, however WWE may believe that they need his star power for shows in the short term. WWE news that tends to ‘leak’ is usually what WWE wants to have out there, so Owens only requesting 10 days or so off might be a rouse.

There’s quite possibly more to this story, and we will update you as and when we have more information.
