WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon recently spoke to Yahoo Finance. The former WWF Women’s Champions discussed a number of topics during the interview, with McMahon making some bold claims regarding the upcoming SummerSlam PPV event.

“Ever since Ronda Rousey broke my arm, I have a little PTSD” McMahon began the interview when asked if she plans on getting back into the ring herself anytime soon.

“I’m not sure you’re going to see me in the ring anytime soon; but I guarantee for SummerSlam, there is going to be a lot of surprises” the WWE Chief Brand Officer noted.

It’s not confirmed exactly what WWE has in mind for SummerSlam; however the company are looking to make it the ‘WrestleMania of this year’ as WrestleMania 37 had to take place in front of a reduced crowd in Florida.

SummerSlam August 21st

SummerSlam will be taking place from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 21. The current rumored main event for the show will see Roman Reigns take on John Cena. It’s believed that the returning Cena will be playing a pure babyface to the heel Roman.

This is hopefully the case, as Roman Reigns has been the true highlight of WWE during the pandemic era. The company are clearly looking to move him back into a face role at some point, but hopefully this is months away.

Stephanie also discussed the recent merging of several departments in WWE; with many employees being released over the past few weeks on-screen and off.

“Like a lot of media companies, we’re in the process of transition and evolution” McMahon noted. “When you consider the fact that we had three different media teams doing the same work, we realized there was a lot of duplication and Inefficiency.”

“It’s being more prudent business people and looking at our business in a different way” Stephanie McMahon concluded.
