Adam Cole: Update on reported offer to stay in WWE

WWE NXT Superstar Adam Cole has been the subject of much debate over the past week. The former leader of the Undisputed Era reportedly ran down his WWE contract around NXT Great American Bash and signed an extension to keep him with the company to just beyond WWE SummerSlam 2021.

Some reports have indicated that Adam Cole only signed the new deal if it meant he could forgo the non-compete clause that he originally signed with the company.

Whilst that could be interpreted as Cole wanting to leave, it can also be seen as a genius tactic to help negotiate himself a better deal before the end of August.

Is Adam Cole staying in WWE?

Adam Cole reportedly met backstage with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon before this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown. Whilst the nature of this meeting is unknown publicly, it likely was to do with the NXT Superstar’s lapsing contract.

In a recent report from Ringside News, Cole has not been offered a ‘major push’ to stay with the company.

“A tenured member of the creative team informed us that there is ‘no huge push’ to keep him in the company. It was said that fans ‘shouldn’t get [their] hopes up’ regarding this situation, because ‘there’s just money being thrown his way for a role most people won’t believe.’’

There’s a lot to consider for Cole as his contract comes up again, and AEW has a lot going for it when it comes to bringing over a star the caliber of Adam Cole.

Cole’s former stablemates in Bullet Club in The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes are at AEW, and Cole’s wife Dr Britt Baker is also the AEW Women’s Champion.
