It has been reported by multiple outlets that WWE are working hard to get The Rock back into the company for Survivor Series later this year.
Survivor Series would mark the 25th anniversary of The Rock making his debut in WWE as Rocky Maivia, therefore the company want to have The Great One on board for the big occasion.
Sports Illustrated recently reported that Dwayne Johnson will not be making a return anytime soon, citing the recent comments made by Stephanie McMahon on ‘surprises’ for SummerSlam in August.
This doesn’t rule out The Rock for a return at Survivor Series, as the current plan for SummerSlam is for John Cena to return for a Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns.
Is The Rock returning to WWE?
With the restrictions on crowds now being lifted, WWE are desperate to try and build the buzz for the product as the Thunderdome era has seen plummeting ratings with no real crowd in attendance.
There’s also the rumors surrounding The Rock getting a match with his cousin Roman Reigns, which would see The Great One return for WrestleMania in Dallas next year to take on the current Universal Champion.
The rumors of Rock vs Roman are just that, rumors, but this would be major box office for the company and Reigns himself has been subtly goading the former WWE Champion during recent interviews.
We hope to have more information regarding Dwayne Johnson and a return to WWE within the coming months as the company start preparing to put their best foot forward for the rest of 2021.
