Former UFC Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg had a message for Jon Jones and other MMA fighters who are not happy with the UFC.
“Any fighter out there [that] wants to be a fighter and wants to stay a star” Cyborg began on Twitter. “And [also] don’t want to have to worry about the promoters trying to be all in the videos, all on the records, dancing? Come to @bellatormma.”
Cris Cyborg also @’edd Showtime Sports, the new home of Bellator in the United States. Cyborg also mentioned Bellator CEO Scott Coker, Showtime Sports exec Stephen Espinoza and Jon Jones directly. So while this may have seemed like a cryptic message it was clearly aimed at Jon ‘Bones’ Jones.
The recent public dialogue between the UFC and Jon Jones regarding the proposed Francis Ngannou fight has been incendiary thus far. Following UFC 260, Dana White said that ‘if I’m Jon Jones and watching this fight at home, I’m moving to 185!’
Cris Cyborg Comments on Jon Jones Situation
Jones took offense to the comments. ‘I always hear about how much the company is growing’ Jones began on Twitter, airing his displeasure at the comments from White. ‘Yet one year later I find myself in the same spot.’
‘I put in the work, I’ve done my part’ Jones continued. ‘I have completely transformed myself and now I meet a brick wall.. how discouraging.’
‘A huge slap in the face’ Jones added. ‘And I thought we were in good terms. I’ve been sitting here working hard, excited to come back to the company. Just to get that sh*t.’
It remains to be seen if the UFC can put together arguably the biggest fight in the Heavyweight division’s history.
