UFC fighter Jessica Penne was expected to be returning to the octagon on March 27th to take on Hannah Goldy. Penne was previously serving a 4 year ban issued by USADA.

This 4 year ban was reduced to a 20-month layoff; reportedly due to Jessica Penne’s ’˜discipline.’ USADA originally issued the ban due to a ‘positive at trace levels for two metabolites of stanozolol, 16β-hydroxystanozolol and 3’²-hydroxystanozolol.’

Penne was meant to be fighting Hannah Goldy in her UFC return. The fight should’ve taken place at the end of March.

Goldy was confirmed as having tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. The test was administered before the scheduled fight and therefore cancelled.

Jessica Penne did however appear at UFC Fight Night and defeated Lupita Godinez in a hard fought split decision victory. Following the fight, Penne made some comments on Instagram thanking her fans and corner for their support.

“My road back to competition has been long and has tested me in ways I wasn’t sure I was strong enough to handle” Jessica Penne wrote. “There were times I felt I would never be here again. To say this has been an emotional week is an understatement.”

“I’ve been through an emotional 4 years on this road back so I’m ready, excited and grateful” Penne added. “Thank you to everyone who stuck by me.”

Thanking her corner team, Penne wrote “beyond grateful for these people and this experience.”
