UFC Lightweight star Michael Chandler will be entering the octagon at UFC 257 to face Dan Hooker. Appearing on the latest episode of UFC Unfiltered, Chandler would discuss how he prefers fighting taller opponents than himself. Chandler stands at 5′ 8″ and Hooker at 6′ 0″.

“Brandon Girtz was a little bit shorter than me” Chandler would begin on the podcast. “He fought very low, maybe he was worried about the takedown? He fought very low. It was weird and I actually didn’t like it. I like fighting a guy who’s taller than me, you know?”

Michael Chandler would elaborate further, saying “I’ve essentially fought guys who were taller than me my entire career. Most guys are at least 5′ 9″, or they’re in that 5′ 10″, 5′ 11″ range. David Rickles is 6 foot tall and Benson Henderson’s easily five nine and a half, maybe five ten?”

“I’m used to dealing with making up that distance” Chandler continued. “The old Mike Tyson strategy right? Get inside and throw those big bombs man. And for me? I get the luxury of being a wrestler, being a guy where everyone is afraid of my wrestling. So I’m going high, I’m going low, touching his legs, throwing uppercuts and hooks man. I can throw that big overhand right? Collect a paycheque, kiss my wife and go home.”
