WWE has confirmed that Asuka will be defending her RAW Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 37. It was originally believed that Charlotte Flair would be the challenger, but it’s now been revealed that Rhea Ripley will be getting the shot.

Rhea Ripley debuted last night on RAW. Ripley appeared after the Asuka vs Peyton Royce match, signalling that she wanted to get a shot at the gold in April.

It had been reported that Charlotte Flair was not happy with WWE officials, and that was the reason she was not currently on television. Flair herself confirmed that she had tested positive for COVID-19 and therefore was absent.

The rumours stemmed from the request of Charlotte’s fiancé Andrade wanting to be released from the company. Reports indicated that Flair was livid that Andrade had not been granted his request initially.

Although the situation remains unclear, Andrade has now been released from his contract and Flair is recovering from COVID.

Before Lacey Evans revealed she was pregnant, it was expected that the RAW Women’s Championship match would be Evans vs Charlotte Flair. With the way the situation turned out? Asuka vs Rhea Ripley is arguably a far superior match to represent the red brand’s Women’s division at WrestleMania 37 in April.

Here’s the currently confirmed matches for WrestleMania 37, which takes place over two nights on April 10/11:

Night One (10 April)

  • WWE Championship Match –  Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
  • SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Sasha Banks (c) vs. Bianca Belair

Night Two (11 April)

  • Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Edge (Daniel Bryan likely to be added)
  • RAW Women’s Championship Match –  Asuka (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
