This past Monday’s episode of RAW on USA Network saw the implosion of The Hurt Business faction. Bobby Lashley and MVP booted Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander out of the group, but reportedly they were not happy with the decision.
According to Fightful Select, Vince McMahon made the decision himself, ‘much to the chagrin of those in the group.’
MVP and Bobby Lashley reportedly were not happy at all with the decision. The group is essentially ‘young’ on WWE programming, at least with Bobby Lashley sitting atop the RAW roster. It felt as though this was an extremely quick decision on McMahon’s part to prematurely break up The Hurt Business.
MVP and Bobby Lashley apparently met with Vince McMahon before RAW aired. The two men tried to convince McMahon to change his mind and keep the group going in its current iteration.
The Hurt Business ‘Destroyed’ by Vince McMahon
Fightful Select also noted that Vince McMahon ‘was set in his choice to fracture the group.’ It was also noted that the WWE chairman ‘dug his heels in even more’ at the meeting with members of The Hurt Business.
Shelton Benjamin seemingly took a shot at the decision on Twitter. It’s not clear though, because this could easily be construed as being tweeted ‘in character’ by the now former Hurt Business member.
“The events of this past week have been beyond infuriating” Shelton Benjamin wrote. “Frustrating & disappointing but sadly comes as no surprise.”
Bobby Lashley is set to defend his WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre on Night 1 of the event (April 10). It was confirmed that members of The Hurt Business would be ‘banned’ from ringside from this match.
