It has been confirmed that UFC Middleweight/Light Heavyweight great Anderson Silva will be returning to combat sports. The Spider will be facing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr inside a boxing ring for his return to competition.

TMZ Sports recently reported that the 45-year-old Anderson Silva has signed a contract to fight 35-year-old Julio César Chávez Jr. on June 19.

Silva was released from his UFC contract back in November 2020, following a loss to Uriah Hall. Silva has stated his want to return to competition; now it has been confirmed that he will be joining the boxing world.

“When I look back at my journey, I see that nothing has been in vain,” Silva recently said. “I am extremely happy for the opportunity to test my boxing skills with Julio César Chávez Jr.”

“I train continuously” Anderson Silva continued. “Always striving for resilience and to overcome obstacles. Fighting is my everlasting breath.”

The ‘Tribute To The Kings’ event will be taking place Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico and will be available live on Pay-Per-View.

No official details have been revealed regarding the PPV; including where it will be hosted internationally. There’s a good chance that FITE TV will be carrying the event for fans outside of the United States.

Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva is 34-11 in MMA with 1 NC. The man regarded as one of the greatest Middleweights of all time has defeated the likes of Stephan Bonnar, Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort, Dan Henderson and Rich Franklin.
